Zoo

Last Tuesday we went to the Cameron Park Zoo in Waco.  We figured we would go in May before it was insanely hot and too crowded from summer visitors plus Russell has off during the week right now so it worked perfect.  Several people have recommended this zoo over Houston (which is about the same distance for us) for being nice for toddlers and cheaper and easier to park.  I agree with all of those but would still like to go to Houston in the future to see if they have any different animals and to see the museum.  Cole loved all the big animals but wasn't feeling the fish/reptile exhibits (not sure if it was because it was dark or doesn't like snakes).  I truly felt like a parent because I wanted to stay in the aforementioned exhibits because they were air conditioned and then had flashbacks to my childhood and finally understood why my parents wanted to ride the haunted house and its a small world ride at Disney World so many times!  Ok, enough words and to the pictures (my fave, besides of my boys, is of Cole feeding the "big kitty" through the glass:)...

Rain!!!

This was from two weeks ago when we got our first good rain (more than an inch) in like six months, basically enough time for Cole to actually realize what rain is and say "ray".  I bet my aunt and uincle never thought the bird bath they gave us for Christmas several years ago would occupy a toddler for an hour!

Splashing the water...just a little wet so far...

Stomping in the mud puddle we created...

Giving mama the bird aka testing the water temperature...

Pretty much soaked!  I thought this was a neat picture because I actually captured the water droplets!

Paint the paper

I'm behind, again.  Quick recap - we were sick Mother's Day weekend and I am almost 30.  Ok, now that everyone is caught up, I'll show some pictures of the boy painting plus a few more posts of pictures showing what we have been up to.  Cole loves to paint.  He can say the word and run to where I keep the paints and paper super excited and then runs to the kitchen and pulls his chair out (which is now the painting chair as we sit in a regular sans booster seat...prefers sitting on his feet and he doesn't throw a fit so I gave in).  Once in the chair, I'm instructed what colors to put where and will be handed the paper when he's finished with a firm "done" spoken.  This time I had to repeatedly tell him to keep the paint on the paper...you'll see why!

Easter 2011

But God demonstrates His own love towards us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.  Romans 5:8

I've always enjoyed Holy Week but never realized how hectic it can be when you work for the church.  The nursery was open Wednesday-Friday then we were pretty busy Sunday morning.  That makes having family close extra nice as we were able to celebrate with Russell's family on Saturday and mine Sunday evening.  Cole isn't a big egg hunter which doesn't hurt my feelings too much as I feel like there is more emphasis on the plastic eggs and chocolate (not that I didn't enjoy my Cadbury egg!!) anyways than the cross, which is covered nicely in the Veggie Tales video, for those of you with kiddos (or anyone really as they are quite funny!). Here are the pictures from the weekend:

Yes, this is sadly the best family shot we got.  Someone was not happy to take a play break!

Cole and cousin hunting eggs together.

Sweet pictures/ of cousin and Cole smelling Mom-ma's flowers and ....

One of several failed attempts to get Cole to sit with his Easter basket but he watched this western for the longest...

Giving hugs to the bunny in the yard!  Hope everyone had a blessed Easter!
