10 weeks old

Ok, Thursday he will actually be 11 weeks old but I have been thinking about typing this post for almost a week now! I can't believe how time flies. We feel so blessed to have such a happy and healthy baby (even though he has been sniffly this past week and hates the boogie sucker aka nasal aspirator!). Now that he is older, we have been taking him more places and he has done pretty well. Church has been interesting but having my parents there to tag time with us has been really nice....I actually got to hear the sermon this week! Next week will be his first communion and we have scheduled his baptism for the 20th. We are so excited to see the plans God has for our little man! Already, it has been amazing what he has learned with him grabbing and holding more things with his tiny hands, pushing up higher during tummy time, pushing up with his feet against everything, making spit bubbles, trying to watch tv (picture below...yes, I watch the Disney channel!) and making new noises all the time. I try to capture as much as I can on camera like the leaning tower of baby!

Cousins

Our family was blessed with 2 babies this year, with Russell's sister having a little girl back in January. It has been interesting trying to get them both to pose for a picture at the same time...I'm not really sure how my family did it with 9 grandkids!

Babywearing

When I was pregnant, I researched all sorts of baby items especially baby carriers that allow you to "wear" your baby and go hands free. There are so many different categories (rings, pouches, backpacks) of carriers and many different types within each category. I finally picked a ring sling and Cole seems to enjoy it. For the first few weeks we did the tummy to tummy hold but he really likes looking around and has such good head control that we have graduated to the kangaroo hold. It allows me to get work down around the house when he is awake and lets him take in the world around him. Here is a picture of my kangaroo with a hat on to protect him from the blazing Texas summer sun when we went on a walk this morning. Unfortunately he will only be able to use this type of carrier until he his ~20 lbs which he will reach sooner than later as he weighed 14 lbs 12 oz at his 2 month appt last week! Since he is growing so fast, I have been putting him in outfits mainly for a photo shoot before he outgrows them (hence the pants outfit which is too warm to wear outside right now but will be too small when it is cooler). Oh, and before I forget for a second time today, Happy Birthday Nana!

Baxter's thoughts....

Normally I don't find my crying child hilarious, but this photo is! I just imagine Baxter thinking "If I ignore it, it will stop". The next photo proves the crying does stop and is replaced with talking..I think that is the "ooh" face:) I will post more later this week after our 2 month check-up...I can't believe it has been that long since we were blessed with the arrival of our little angel!

Photo shoot

Not professional photo shoot, just Aggie-engineered! I wanted to get a picture of Cole smiling for his birth announcement but had only gotten him to smile on his changing pad (I guess if someone was wiping me with a warm wet wipe I would be in a good mood too:)). I'm picky and didn't like the angle and background there so I propped him up on the bed to see what would happen. After a few crazy faces from mama, we got some really good pictures! The one below is not the one for his birth announcement but is my second favorite. I love this happy baby face! Oh, and to update a previous blog, we are now sleeping for 3 hour chunks at night (then eats snack and goes back to sleep) and even did 4 hours the other night but that was after a day of cranky-not-wanting-to-take-a-nap-ness (I think he was going through a growth spurt babies have around 6-8 weeks)...I definitely prefer happier days than extra sleep at night!

Happy Anniversary!

Yes, I know a blog is long over due but we have been fairly busy and I have been getting sleep in 2 hour chunks! However, Cole has been extending the time between feedings to 2 1/2 to even 3 hours the past few days which is nice because we have more time to play and sleep before eating again. He is also smiling alot and making sweet noises other than crying! As soon as I can get a good picture of him smiling, I will be sending out birth announcements. The title happy anniversary is for me and Russell because we were married 7 years ago today. Since Cole naps pretty consistently from 12-2 each day, we decided to go out to eat for lunch instead of dinner. Thank you Nana for babysitting (not that we had to twist her arm or anything!) so we could go out and celebrate. It is really nice (for other reasons besides free babysitting!) that my parents live nearby now. For those of you who just like the blog to look at pictures of Cole and not for my witty banter, here you go:
