4 weeks and 6 days

Which makes tomorrow his 5 week birthday! Cole is really growing like a weed...based on our home measurements, he is at least 23 inches long and close to (if not at or over) 13 pounds! Most of his 0-3 month outfits are too small (mainly in length) but 3-6 are slightly too big. Here is a 3 month outfit from his Auntie Em and Uncle Ryan. I like the back side the best, especially since he's sitting like a frog:)

Squeaky clean

Until last night, Cole's weekly baths have been sponge baths that he extremely disliked so we were apprehensive about his reaction to his bathtub. But he loved it which is evident by the way he is kicked back in the pictures below. Hopefully next time I won't get peed on during transport of baby to bathtub:)

And one month ago today, Russell not only got a son for Father's Day but also got a new Iphone. Even though Cole is asleep in this picture, it looks like he's just as addicted to the phone as his daddy (side note - I got Russell's old Iphone and am addicted too. If it wasn't $5, I'd totally be downloading the Oregon Trail app Courtney told me about!!)

And the award goes to...

Some days I feel like Reba McEntire's wardrobe person at the CMA award show where she makes several wardrobe changes in a couple hours...given I don't think her wardrobe changes are due to diaper explosions:) So here is Mr. Cole in his first outfit of the day. The little ducks on the feet were so cute! I was having fun singing the Batman theme song and substituting Batman with Duckman:)

And here is a picture of my boys joining me in the kitchen the other afternoon to eat a snack. I'm so thankful Baxter has been so wonderful around Cole because he has been part of this family for 5 years and we really wanted to be able to keep him inside. Hopefully this loving relationship will continue once Cole becomes more mobile!

Great-grandparents

We had a busy weekend. My Aunt Sue brought my grandparents from Victoria to see their first great grandchild on Saturday. Needless to say, Cole was cuddled by several people and seemed very content with that (and his legs aren't that pink in person!). Besides getting to visit, we had a wonderful lunch of chicken and dumplings with squash casserole, black-eyed peas, bean salad and apple dumplings for dessert that my Mom-ma made. Can anyone say afternoon nap! Saturday was also Russell's first day back at work and Sunday was my first day home with Cole. I was a little nervous but we had a great day and I'm looking forward to us getting into some sort of daily groove. Right now, he is very much a morning person that doesn't like to nap until the afternoon and gets up 2-3 times a night to eat. Once we get into that schedule, I am hoping to be more mobile with him but I still want to follow the doctor's recommendation of minimizing his public appearances until he is 2 months old. Maybe then we will start travelling some to see family like my other grandparents in the bottom picture who were able to come visit their eighth great-grandchild when we were still in the hospital.

3 weeks old

Wow, I can't believe we have been parents for 3 weeks now and at the same time it seems like he has always been a part of our lives. Over the past few weeks we have learned that he loves to cuddle, loves to look around and take in everything around him, is a morning person, likes afternoon naps, enjoys his nighttime routine, likes evening walks (haven't been up early enough to go in the morning yet), makes baby elephant noises when he starts waking up, and still hates baths. Here are some pictures I took of him the other day in a cute onesie with a giraffe and "adorable" written on it. I put his giraffe toy in the background because I thought it would be cute, as the first picture shows.

Then we started squirming and hit the giraffe, which started to fall on him.So we showed the giraffe who was the boss:)

I'd thought I would give a quick update on our 4-legged child, Baxter. He has been so good with Cole and has even done well with the stroller on walks (used to run from and bark at strollers). However, us being at home during the day and up some at night I think has put a kink in his schedule.....In case you are wondering, that is his puppy toy on the right that he is napping with.

Poop story

All of my friends and family have told us stories of explosive poop and even though Cole has had some nastiness, all of it has remained in the diaper so far. Until yesterday. I decided that even though we aren't going very many places that I want to dress him in his cute outfits (vs. white t-shirts) and take his picture before he grows out of them. Yesterday I chose this cute outfit with turtles, ducks, and frogs on it.
Luckily I took a picture right away because about an hour later I was holding him and heard a familiar sound. However, this time I also felt something. I hopped up and went straight to the changing table to see what fun awaited me. Poop had come out the side (luckily not the top) of the diaper, went all over the blanket he was swaddled in and even got on the burp pad I was holding. Needless to say, he spent the rest of the day in a white t-shirt:)

Oh, since I am behind on blogging, here is a picture of a cute Aggie outfit from this weekend. Auntie Em bought the booties and we wanted a picture of him in them before they get too small. He still has a little growing room so they should still fit once football season starts. He actually stayed pretty clean in this outfit!

Big man at 2 weeks old

Ok, so I'm officially a terrible blogger but am going to put more effort into now that I can sit more comfortably in the computer chair and found out how many friends and family have been checking for updates to find none. Both Cole and I had check-ups this week and I am down to within 17 lbs of my pre-pregnancy weight and he surpassed his birth weight as he is now 11 lbs and 4 oz! We were really excited as I would prefer to not supplement with formula unless absolutely necessary and he is obviously getting plenty to eat. I can't believe how fast he is changing in that he already makes different noises and has pretty decent head control which even impressed the doctor who told us to not be surprised if he starts crawling and walking sooner than average. I have a feeling he is going to give us a run for our money, literally! Oh well, those extra pounds will come off really fast with me trying to keep up with him.
